2022 Division Scholarly Program: Call for Submissions

On behalf of the Gender and Diversity in Organizations (GDO) division, I encourage you to submit your paper and symposia proposals for consideration for the Academy of Management meeting in Seattle, WA (USA), August 5-9.

The conference theme is “Creating a Better World Together,” which is extremely relevant to today’s struggles for workplace and societal justice and equality based on racioethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, Colonialism, religion, and ability.

We GDO scholars are well-suited to creating to a better world together as we focus our efforts on documenting inequalities and providing evidence-based solutions to combating injustice and discrimination. Examples include surfacing the impact of organizational policies, practices, and discourses on marginalized groups, including critical examination of the seemingly neutral assumptions underlying them and their differential impact on social groups. Please see our division’s domain statement. We encourage work that addresses inequality but also prescribes a better way forward for organizations to “create a better world.” I hope our division can lead the way in this regard, and I look forward to seeing how our submissions address this important theme.

The GDO Division recognizes the high quality of our conference papers through the annual awards of the Dorothy Harlow Best Paper Award, the Best Paper Based on a Dissertation Award, the Best Student Paper Award, and the Best Transnational Research Paper Award. We also have two award opportunities focused on the intersection of entrepreneurship, gender, and diversity, sponsored by the Kauffman Foundation: The Gender, Diversity, and Entrepreneurship Awards recognize the best paper and best student paper on these topics. The Submission Center opens December 2, 2021, and the Submission Deadline is Tuesday, 11 January 2022 at 17:00 (5 PM) ET (NY Time).
